1. What would you ask for if a genie granted you 3 wishes?
   1) I would very much like to have LOADS of money to buy yarn! and a house! and to not have to work and to pay off all my bills.
   2) I know this is a silly but I would very much love to fall in love. (Although do I want a genie to pick my love I don't know!)
   3) To have the opportunity to travel the world.
2. What are 3 things you love the most about yourself? Physically?
   1) my eyes they are green and I think they are fabulous and make picking clothes out EASY!
   2) I both love and hate being 5'10" I love it because I would be a lot ROUNDER if I was shorter and I hate it because I have never dated a guy taller than me. :(
   3) I love my hands. They aren't pretty. They are always dry, but without them I couldn't do anything that I love. Hands are important to me and my knitting!
   Personality:
   1) I guess my sense of humor is good. I make myself laugh, and people laugh when they are around me (It might be at me but thats ok!)
   2) I love to love people. I guess thats a good thing!
3. Who is your style icon?
   Oh I don't really have one. I have always loved Ralph Lauren and Dior (not that I can afford/ look good in it!) I just like classic. I really don't take risks when it comes to fashion at all!
4. Do you have a favorite quote or any words of wisdom to share? Here are a few that inspire me ...

   I wanted to be a teacher when I was little or a nurse. In middle school I wanted to be a writer (I even have the terrible books to prove it!)

   I am sure that I'm going to say "oh dear!" I'm very lucky with my friends, but it seems like everything else is kind of a mess. I hope when I look back my life is different!
   
   
   7. What kind of music are you into?
   Oh everything. Classical, rock, pop, celtic, indie rock, county. I'm not offended by much musically.
   
   
   8. What is the most important lesson you have learnt in you life so far?
   Life is not that deep. Let it roll off your back and move on. That carries through my work, knitting, family, friendships, and relationships.

Hello Bloggers,

I'm in the midst of a ton of projects, it is rather overwhelming, as I am generally someone who only likes to have a few projects on her needles at a time. I guess it isn't the amount of projects it is the amount of things that I want to get done. And I feel like I don't have to the time to do them. Which is silly I knit at least 2 hours a day. And more when I have the time. I don't know I guess I'm feeling out of sorts with my whole life and I'm trying to blame it on my knitting.

I'm currently working on:

1)a present for a readers birthday

2)the knit along at Wednesday night sit and knit at String Thing Shop (photo below)

3) Aeolian which hasn't been touched in two weeks. Even though I'm so close to being done I can taste it.

4)socks for my uncle. I literally have like 4 rounds of the toe left and I ran out of yarn. So I have to wind the second skein. Which I am to lazy to do I guess.

I made these stitch markers for a woman who goes to String Thing Shop. She likes larger ones so these will fit up to a size 11 needle. They are a little blurry, sorry!

This beautiful green Lana D'oro from Cascade is going to become this . It is for one of my best friends moms. She was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor last week. I love them both so I thought this would be something small I could do.

LONGIES! :) I will eventually be selling these lovely little pants on Hyena cart. Its a future business and I was testing the pattern to see if I wanted to buy the rights. I'm thinking yes! (Awesomeness is a business that involves me knitting!) :)

This is Fizzi which is a knit along at String Thing Shop. I'm using Zauberball. I'm not sure how I feel about the yarn. It has some places where it is kinda thin, and than it gets really thick. Anyway, I was about 9 rows into the next section (i.e. the lace) when I figured I had screwed the whole thing up and I started ripping. The girls were all shocked and gasping when Barb took it from me and picked up 250 stitches for me! I love love love her and feel like I should give her a gift for being so awesome! The shawl is now back on track and will be for my best friend Megan.

Speaking of Christmas I made a decision last week. I'm not Christmas knitting this year. That being said I'm sure that there will be a few things that I'll do for people. But mostly NO CHRISTMAS knitting. I love my friends desperately but I've got to knit for myself once in awhile! :) So I hope they forgive me, but it is a lot trying to get it all done for December 25th. So birthdays are going to be the time for knitting for my friends!

Speaking of friends here are some of my favorites! We went out for Hibachi last night to celebrate my friend Tara's birthday! They are the best and I don't know what I would do with out (from left to right) Jill , Brenda (owner of String Thing Shop), Bernadette, Suzi, Tara, Guenevere, and myself.

I would like to point out that Jill and Bernadette are the only two who managed to look half way normal in this photo. However I think it is the best shot of the night! :)

Just Married!

The museum I work at recently had an exhibit open that I can honestly say I helped with from beginning to end! A few months back Jill my boss/friend (jillybeanstalk@blogspot), Kevin the maintenance repairman and myself came up with the idea for an exhibit on Wedding Dresses. It took literally MONTHS and a constant uphill battle for the exhibit to be approved BUT in the end we beat city hall and we had approval! :)

I learned a lot about the field I'm currently working in while helping put the exhibit together. Most of that involves drama and I don't want to get into that! I just want to be proud of myself. I met an AMAZING curator from the PA State Museum in Harrisburg. I also figured out that I like textiles more than I thought I did. I also love household items, but I'm narrowing down my interests in the field. Which is good! I also learned that sometimes you just have to let things fall off your back. The fact that I think panels are ridiculous doesn't matter! And the saying "Shit rolls down hill" is very true!

These photos are by no means the whole exhibit, I of course want people to pay the $6.00 dollars to see the rest. The exhibit is titled "Just Married 70 Years of Weddings in Coal Country" and we have 6 fabulous dresses and one mens suit along with some artifacts! The museum is the Anthracite Heritage Museum in Scranton PA. If you are in the area come visit. I'm around Monday though Friday and I'll be happy to give you a tour!

This dress is a fundraiser. It is a size 12 Henry Roth gown which is being raffled off on October 24th. Tickets are $10.00 each. The dress has never been worn and looks BEAUTIFUL! And if I was a size 12 I would totally get it just to parade around my house in it! :)

All in all a great exhibit and I hope to someday be a curator at my own museum so that I can make some decisions! :)

Life is forever changing ....

Sorry it has been so long. If it isn't one thing in life it's another. My Mom moved to Ohio last week, the museum I work at had an exhibit open today (photos to come later this week) and it has been HOT! Also I haven't finished anything interesting. Aoelian is looking GREAT however I can't get any photos of it until its finished and blocked! I have a hat that I need to felt but that requires time and I HATE HATE HATE to felt!

Anyway the yarn store I spend WAY to much time at had a Christmas in July sale that I worked at. And as a gift for coming in I got this great bag. I also picked up some yarn. Not a lot ... but some. (I'm TRYING to knit from my stash. And I've been successful but sometimes we all cheat a little bit!)
I've had my eye on this gray and blue Lornas Laces for awhile. I have no idea what I'll do with it but I really like it!
This is to make my Momma's Christmas present! Which I can't talk about because I think shes going to start reading this since she has abandoned me for Ohio.

18th Century Reenacting

I finally had a weekend off! (last weekend) and I got to go to a reenactment! Which is like my favorite hobby ... except for knitting! Luckily this weekend I got to sit at a craft tent and meld my two favorite things!

The event was "The Escape from Wyoming." I'm not going to go into the history of my unit or the Battle however lets just say it wasn't a smashing win for the home team. However in the end Cornwallis surrendered and the United State was born! Go USA! :) I took more pictures than I have at any event in years and I'm posting them just for all of you! :)

The event took place on a farm in NEPA and the view of the battle field with the mountain in the distance was EXCELLENT! I wish I could have done it justice!

This is my friend Linda's sutlery. She sells homemade soaps, teas, oils and jewelry. Here stuff is awesome and very much helps in making sure I don't stink to badly.
My friend Dave is the best carpenter I have EVER met! I love that he can work with 19th century tools and make beautiful things. This weekend he made a table and a candle box. I am jealous I can't even cut fabric straight!
Of course some of the guys had to stop and talk shop.

Me knitting! And of course I have sun glasses on. I hate being in the sun! They help a little bit! You are looking at the knee sock that i started got like 6 inches completed on and promptly ripped out! :(
My friends Donna and Kim. Donna is carding wool and Kim is spinning. Can we talk about how jealous I am!? I want a wheel so badly!
At the events my unit hosts my friend Donna has gotten in the habit of having a ladies tea while the boys are out making noise with there guns. Here is how that looked! :) Donna invented the tea sandwiches I made at the Pride and Prejudice tea and we had them again here. They are ALWAYS a big hit!

This is a photo of the British camp. I really liked how it looked. We were up the hill from them, and after the battle the boys came and hung there regimentals over there tents and for some reason I really enjoy how it looked! :)

Thats all I've got for today. My family has been in for a week for a family reunion and I haven't had the time to knit. And now I'm working at my friends yarn store this weekend and the air conditioning is broken. And I have a terrible time making my yarn work when my hands are sweating!

So I have a Cookie A. addiction that is no reason to judge!

I finished the socks that i started the second week of June Cookie A.'s "Cubist" socks. I absolutely LOVE the pattern. It was easy and quick. I used Koigu Merino sock for them. I bought the yarn a Knitty City in NYC when I was there for my birthday trip. If you ever have the chance to go to her store you will be amazed at the sheer volume she can fit in that store. It is also kinda overwhelming and fun to dig through all the bins and not know what your going to get. I also have to say that the yarn stores in NYC are A LOT busier than any I've even been to! I love the yarn. Something about the colors makes me think of a fairytale. I love it!! I went up a half a size as I always do with Cookies socks. I like it when they go around my abnormally large legs! Luckily I had enough yarn, it was a concern when I was finishing the first sock I literally had like 10 feet left in each of the skeins so I just barely made it. Stupid big feet.
While knitting these socks I signed up to test knit for Cookie A.'s new book. NEVER EVER thinking that I would be one of the chosen few, however I WAS! :) I was chosen to knit "Lissajous." And I'm making them for my friend Bernadette. Since we have to knit to the pattern and only have a week to do it in. So I'm using a 1.5 needle (which is what is called for) and I'm making them for a size 7.5 foot (much smaller than my size 11 boat feet!) I'm using a really pretty Louet Gems that I also bought as Knitty City. (OK so I went crazy, it was a birthday trip don't judge me!)

I'm not going to lie. Test knitting is harder than I thought it would be. I mean I literally couldn't figure out how many stitches to cast on! lol But I've got some great support from the other knitters and Cookie herself (is it wrong that I want to bow to her greatness and beg her to come to String Thing Shop?!?!?) have been a great help! I'm worried about not finishing in time because let me tell you this is a CRAZY cabled sock! and it was a holiday weekend! But I've got 20 rows left till the leg is done and I can start the heel. So fingers crossed I don't let anyone down!

Even though I generally don't like to knit cabled socks (Lazy!) these are coming out great. The yarn isn't something I'm likely to buy again, it is a little hairy for me. (Does that make sense?!) But wow the affect on the sock! I can't wait to give them to Bern for Christmas. I just wish I didn't have to wait so long!

Update on the shawl I'm working on. Beading is a very SLOW process. Mostly because I can only work on it when I'm at home in front of my computer. But its moving. Actually i'm lying it is sitting in its bag waiting for me to finish the cookie sock. I can't work on anything till thats done! (I will be a good girl! No matter how hard it is on me!)

Ahh the infamous Mr. Darcy!

Today was the second month of "Game Knitting" at String Thing Shop. Hosted by yours truly! :) This one was more of a knit along. And the movie was "Pride and Prejudice" and we had a tea party!

We snacked on yummy tea sandwiches. The Winner of the night was english muffin bread, nutella and a strawberry on top! Oh it was SO good! Not a bad invention if I don't say so myself! We also had THREE different kinds of tea. Chocolate Tea, Tropical Robius tea (the winner of the evening) and Victorian Rose tea! The goody bag had a box of tea and a piece of milk chocolate, the pattern for the fingerless mitts and a recipe for Scones! The recipe was my Dziadzi's (Grandfathers) favorite and I hope that it brings a smiles to everyones have when they make it!(I added it to the bottom here!)

The knit along were really cute fingerless mitts! Super fast! I finished a pair for Bernadette as the credits rolled! She didn't want to take them off so here she is modeling them! Don't her nails look fabulous!!

I had a wonderful time and I am really looking forward to the next movie. As it stands right now I am hoping for August 1 at 4 pm. The movie will be "The Blind Side" and I'm thinking it is going to be a Football party! So come one and all!

Dziadzi’s Favorite Scones

2 c. flour

½ t. salt

3 t. baking powder

¼ c. sugar

¼ t. nutmeg

Mix above ingredients together in large bowl.

Cut up ¼ c. cold butter and add to above mixture. Work in with pastry cutter or two knives until crumbly. Add a good handful of raisins or currants. Stir into crumbs.

Beat 1 egg lightly. Add ½ c. milk. Add to above mixture. Stir together and then dump out of bowl onto floured surface. Knead together until the dough is one large piece. Flatten with hands to about 1” thickness. Cut out with floured biscuit cutter.

Bake at 450° for 10 minutes.
